Who We Are

Walker School affordable housing

American Community Capital is an innovative community development financial institution (“CDFI”) subsidiary lender to Boston Financial, a national leader in affordable housing capital solutions and the low-income housing tax credit (“LIHTC”) industry. Our products serve as complementary to Boston Financial’s affordable housing equity offerings and address the need for supplementary capital at different stages of the affordable housing investment and development cycle. American Community Capital helps to provide much needed alternative affordable housing capital solutions that are in demand by Boston Financial’s diverse array of investor and developer clients.

American Community Capital’s mission is to promote stronger communities by supporting the creation and preservation of affordable housing for underserved and low-income people across the United States.

A Subsidiary of Boston Financial

American Community Capital was established by Boston Financial in 2019. Following 19 months of preparation, Boston Financial submitted American Community Capital’s CDFI Certification Application to the Department of the Treasury, where American Community Capital was certified as a CDFI in 2022.

We never stop innovating and looking for new ways to expand our impact. American Community Capital was born from Boston Financial’s more than 50-year track record of successfully connecting sources and uses of capital to benefit affordable housing communities throughout the U.S.  Creating a dedicated CDFI allows Boston Financial to play a much larger and more meaningful role assisting underserved communities. By applying expertise gained by managing nearly $16 billion in LIHTC equity, leveraging an extensive national platform, and co-investing our parent ORIX Corporation USA’s resources, American Community Capital is uniquely positioned to provide scale, structure, as well as financial strength through CDFI offerings.

Our mission

Safe, quality housing plays a critical role in shaping lives. Serving as a trusted partner, Boston Financial fosters investments in housing that create a positive impact in communities across the United States as we stay true to our core values: integrity, collaboration, exceptional client service, and social responsibility.

About Boston Financial

Boston Financial is a purpose-driven company that has been exclusively focused on affordable housing since 1969. Following the creation of the LIHTC program in 1986, Boston Financial was the first firm to introduce a public tax credit fund on Wall Street and, in 1991, the first for-profit firm to offer an institutional tax credit fund. In the ensuing years, Boston Financial quickly became a leader in the affordable housing sector and continues to be recognized as a top-tier LIHTC syndicator, with the largest nationwide portfolio, one of the most experienced management teams in the industry, and an excellent track record as fund sponsor and investment manager.

Since the start of the LIHTC program in 1986,* Boston Financial has:
